What is the difference between a visit to a homeopath and a naturopath?
Homeopathy is a specialized form of treatment using one system of medicine. Naturopaths will use a combination of various holistic treatments or they may focus one one type of therapy, including homeopathy. The benefit of seeing a homeopath is that the method of treatment remains specific and the objective of the treatment is focussed within the parameters of homeopathy.

How does homeopathy work?
The mechanism of action of homeopathic medicine is not yet know in the world of science, however 200 years of clinical data proven homeopathy to effective for certain conditions. The World Health Organization rates homeopathy to be the second most used form of medicine in the world, following Traditional Chinese Medicine. Homeopathy is the most preferred form of complementary medicine amoung leading Canadian paediatricians.

Yes. Homeopathic medicines are formulated using minute doses of substance (plant, mineral and microbiologica)l in a neutral solution (distilled water, denatured alcohol and sucrose). One of the outstanding features of homeopathic medicines is that they can be used in conjunction with medication and surgery, without interference.

What does a homeopathic consultation consist of?
A visit to a homeopath is very similar to visiting any health care practitioner. The aim of a homeopath is to develop a clear and precise symptom picture of the patient through discussion, observation and basic physical examenation. The homeopath will then determine the correct course of treatment based on the presenting picture and prescribe a homeopathic remedy specific to the patient. An initial visit takes about 1 hour.

Who can use homeopathy?
The whole family can use homeopathy to benefit their health for either acute of chronic problems. Some people or certain conditions may respond better to homeopathic treatment than others. Homeopathy is an excellent treatment option for pregnant women, babies and children, allergic conditions, skin conditions, post-natal depression and post surgery.
