One Therapist’s Journey – January 14/ 2015 Instalment
Here we are and it’s mid-January already!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season as did I and that you had lots of fun bringing in the New Year (AS DID I!!!!).
My apologies for the delay in bringing you this blog instalment but it seems I was so busy forgetting to behave myself that I forgot to write!!!!
Yes, here it is, my confession…
I had every intent on doing a maintenance program over the holidays but in full festive style, lasted only about 2 days before the barrage of “baked-just-for-you-gluten-free-treats” started making their way into our home (and subsequently into our bellies!!) as did many a festive-themed meal! I managed to add 5.5 lbs to my “savings account” in the 2 1/2 weeks over Christmas and one more for good measure in the last week and a half – yup, count ’em – that’s 6.5 lbs – oops!
When I got on the scale to face those miserable ‘scale Gods’ yesterday though, my husband was confused as to why that number made me smile! — my response to him was this: I truly believe that I had WAY more than just 6.5 lbs of fun during the holidays!!! So here I am mid-month, back on my proverbial wagon (with a bit more cushion to the seating!) ready to be more responsible and accountable once again!
I’ll start with a few nutritional cleanse days (trust me when I say I need ’em!) and then back to my regular 30 Day program that had been working so well for me before (why fix what’s not broken?!).
My goals for my next 30 days?: Try to curb my coffee intake (a weakness!), build some more lean muscle mass (feel the burn!), and learn how to use my FitBit (to better track my stats!). My water intake has also been a little lower than usual, so I’ll be diligent once again and amp that up!
FYI: typical daily water requirement (in ozs.) = body weight (in lbs.) divided by 2
Eg: 200 lb. man requires about 100 ozs of water per day
NB This needs to be increased if drinking diuretics such as coffee or alcohol or if perspiration rate has increased.
So what’s on the horizon? — a vacation to a warm climate (yippee!) so I’d love to shed some visceral body fat along with the winter clothing!! Wish me luck!!
In closing, I must say that although it was fun throwing caution to the wind for a bit where caloric consumption in concerned (and it will happen again from time to time, I’m sure!), I feel so much better and way more energetic when I’m eating well and responsibly and when I’m keeping active!
So here I go, raising my glass (of lemon water, of course!) to another 3 X 30 Day Wellness Journey!
Happy New Year!
