What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy/Counselling is "talk" therapy. It typically consists of
face-to-face meetings between the therapist and an individual or couple.
Sessions are normally 50 minutes each and are usually scheduled once per
week. The first few sessions will be an assessment period where the focus
will be on looking at the presenting issue(s) and situation(s) in the
context of the individual's relationship to themselves and with others.
Treatment will include explorations of ways to deal with the issues
identified. This is done by healing them, looking at new coping skills
and/or to provide a renewed focus for pursuing your life goals.
Issues that can be addressed:
- Individual/Couples/Group Therapy
- Grief/Loss
- Postpartum/ Self-Esteem
- Depression/Addictions
- Stress/Anxiety
- Cross-Cultural
- Relationships
- Sexual/Physical Abuse
- Parenting
- Spiritual Connection
Life is a journey. Some journeys are easier, with less winding roads and obstacles along the way. Others lead us to feel hopeless, frustrated and stressed out. A psychotherapist can help guide you through the rough roads in your life, on the path to healing.
With the help of psychotherapy/counselling, you can get through the obstacles in your life with much more ease and confidence. In this process, you will be guided to heal and develop a new relationship with your past, pain, grief and messages.
You may finding yourself asking questions such as:
- Why am I feeling so sad?
- Why do I not feel connected to my partner/children?
- Why do I feel so stressed out?
- How can I feel more calm?
- Why can't I get "over" this?
- Why do I always react this way?
