What is Chiropractic/What is a Chiropractor?
Chiropractors are health care professionals focused on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders, with an emphasis on treatment through manipulation of the spine “Chiropractic” comes from Greek roots meaning “Effective treatment by hand”.
Chiropractors focus on the intimate relationship between the nervous system and the spine, and hold true the following beliefs:
- Biomechanical and Structural derangement of the spine can affect the nervous system.
- For many conditions, chiropractic treatment can restore the structural integrity of the spine, reduce pressure on sensitive neurological tissue and consequently improve the health of the individual.
What is involved when you first visit the Chiropractor?
On your initial visit the Chiropractor will perform a full history and an orthopaedic examination to determine the underlying cause of your problem and decide if x-rays or further diagnostic imaging is required.
At the Report of Findings the chiropractor will have formulated a diagnosis for your condition and recommend a treatment program for you outlining what chiropractic techniques are best for you and what is the expected time frame for you to reach maximum improvement. Keep in mind Chiropractic is a natural form of health care that restores proper function to the nervous system helping your body heal naturally without the use of drugs or surgery.
