Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Michael J. Kennedy grew up in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. He attended school at St. Jerome’s High School where he was active in the football, basketball, badminton and ski teams. After completing his Secondary School Diploma as an Ontario Scholar, he attended the University of Western Ontario and completed his degree in Physiology. During this time his father had sought out the help of a local chiropractor for a hip problem and Dr. Kennedy was exposed to the chiropractic profession; and soon after he sought out a mentor to guide him. He was extremely interested in the natural approach to health care that chiropractic offers, using the innate healing abilities of the body to balance the nervous system without the use of drugs or surgery.
After being accepted into Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1986 , he completed the four year program and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1990. He began his career as an associate doctor in 1990 at Shoppers World Mall in Brampton; and in 1993, bought the practice as a sole proprietor and clinic director. He has run a busy family practice for the last 26 years in Brampton. Since 2004 Dr. Kennedy has been the Chief Examiner for Ontario for the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board responsible for the Practical Exams in Hamilton each June. He also travels to Calgary once or twice a year for Chief Examiner meetings, test construction workshops, and to act as an examiner for the Calgary practical exams. For the past 3.5 years Dr. Kennedy has been a Peer Assessor for College of Chiropractors of Ontario as part of the self-regulatory branch of the College. He also has past experience as an investigator for the College working on privacy, insurance and discipline issues. Dr. Kennedy treats a wide variety of patients and conditions including athletes, seniors, children, pregnancy WSIB cases, Motor vehicle accident claims and private insurance cases. Dr. Kennedy is married with three children and has been actively involved as a trainer and parent rep for the hockey , baseball and soccer teams that his children are involved in. He enjoys racquetball, skiing and golf in his spare time. He is very excited about joining the Wallis for Wellness Health Care team and being one part of the collaborative effort to improve the patients overall health.
