Cupping

Try this effective treatment in the clinic or learn virtually how to implement this modality at home for self-care.

What to expect!

Cupping is a form of alternative physical therapy in which the therapist uses a combination of massage strokes and negative pressure to lift, separate, and stretch underlying soft tissues.

  • Involves placing cups on the neck, shoulders, back, sacrum, hip, abdomen, thigh, calves, and upper arms to create suction.

  • Cups can be placed on or used to massage an affected area.

  • Affected areas are determined by massage techniques and cups will be moving over in a gliding motion.

  • Blood circulation is increased in treated areas and muscle tension will be relieved to improve blood flow and cell repair.

  • We love to empower our patients to play an active role in their health and therefore can sell cups to be used for home self-care use. Our team is happy to help educate you on how to effectively use them for your family.

What are the benefits?

Cupping Therapy helps to prevent and/or promote improvement in the following conditions.

Vasculature of the Heart

Blood Circulation

Due to the suction of the cups, blood circulation is increased and eliminates blood congestion. An increased blood flow works to increase cell reparation, relieve muscle tension, and decrease inflammation.

Upper Back Massage

Pain & Muscle Tension

Muscle tension can be relieved by cupping in that it works to release tension in the myofascial by providing a stretch to the fascia, thereby easing tension on tense muscles. Used in combination with massage, cupping can ease both chronic and acute pain in the muscles.

Massage

Lympatic Flow

Cupping encourages tissues to release toxins within the body by bringing stagnant fluids to the surface of the skin. Focused blood flow helps your body by flushing built-up toxins through the lymphatic system.

Cupping Treatment

Scar Tissue Adhesion

To help reduce scars, cupping can help to break up scar tissue and adhesions on muscles and connective tissue. It also helps to move blood and lymph to the area which speeds up healing.

Stomach Pain

Digestive Issues

Cupping helps the parasympathetic nervous system, which in turn brings blood flow to the digestive system. In doing this, it helps with peristalsis, clears colon blockages, and relieves indigestion.

Woman with Hand on Face

Skin Issues

Because of the increased blood flow to the areas and the flushing of the toxins, it can make the skin look healthier, decrease the visibility of stretch marks, scars, and cellulite. Better circulation brings fresh blood flow and oxygen to problem areas in the skin.
